Choosing your perfect rug
Rugs really are essential to creating a well-dressed home. They will help reinforce a more cohesive feel and look to your room. To me, a great rug is like great shoes finishing off a beautiful outfit. It can be a game changer in your home.
When choosing the right rug, look towards other elements of your design theme – like colour and pattern. Always better to keep the larger items of the room in a simpler, calmer design, so a fairly plain tailored rug will always fit the bill.
If you have hardwood or tiled floors, rugs are the perfect solution to sound absorption and a cosier aesthetic. In open-plan spaces, furniture can look a bit lost and all at sea – but a rug can zone off spaces perfectly and anchor your layout.
Rugs are also a great way to bring a more 3 dimensional quality to your space, with texture providing a visual depth. But let’s not forget the comfort factor! Who can resist kicking off the heels and sinking the old twinkle toes into the plush softness of wool!
Whatever design you go for, ensure you choose the largest rug size suitable for your room proportions. Avoid the floating rug lost-in-the-middle-of-the-room look. Ideally, choose a size large enough to just fit in the centre of your furniture, anchoring your layout and preventing trips. Give your room a hug and treat it to a gorgeous rug!
Dad joke – What did the rug say to the floor?……”don’t worry Man, I’ve got you covered”
